“For a day in Your courtyards is better than a thousand elsewhere.”
Psalms 84:10a
The danger in a website like this, is the temptation to make it all about a single person. In truth, the purpose of this site is indeed intended to be about a single person, the person of Jesus Christ.
For most of my life, I have lived in the shadow of a rock star that shares my name. Over the past thirty years I have received e-mails from those trying to confirm or book a concert date. I have watched numerous people approach me to shake my hand thinking I was the one that recorded duets with John Oates only to watch their faces turn from delight to disappointment when they realize I am not THAT Daryl Hall. The endless stories I have of my Daryl Hall “fan” encounters could make someone feel as though they are…. insignificant. But I live with a different perspective, a perspective that empowers me to feel at home in the shadows.
At the age of six, I surrendered my life to Christ. Living and walking with God will both magnify the deception of SELF worth and amplify true worth that comes only from God living in me. From that moment of salvation, I began to live in the shadow of the cross. I am completely at home here. This site is not an attempt to become a “celebrity pastor”. I have little interest in celebrity and besides, skinny jeans are not for me. And I have no desire to be critical of the “rock star” Daryl Hall, I actually think he is a gifted musician. Instead, my hope is that you will feel invited to join me as I strive to be God’s servant with the goal of making the name of Jesus known. I may not be making music with other legendary musicians, but I serve the creator of the universe- the King of Kings. This is why when someone asks me if I am “the” Daryl Hall, I have no problem telling them “no, I’m the other Daryl Hall”.

“just as you know how we were exhorting and encouraging and imploring each one of you as a father would his own children, so that you would walk in a manner worthy of the God who calls you into His own kingdom and glory.”
